In response to media reports that a sergeant of the 302nd Army Infantry Brigade in Chenggong Ridge lost control and chased and shot a recruit with a T91 electronic training gun, the Army's 10th Corps solemnly stated today (17th) that the Corps commander had proactively assigned cadres to take the soldier to the hospital for injury examination and launched an administrative investigation. The media reports that the case was "suppressed" were untrue, and there would be "no leniency" to cadres for their violations.

"FTV News" reported that a sergeant major of the 302nd Army Infantry Brigade in Chenggong Ridge, Taichung lost control during the "shooting preview" course. He actually chased soldiers with a T91 electronic training gun and fired continuously. It also said that an insider was immediately suspected of "suppressing the case" with the intention of concealing it. The report also pointed out that although the T91 electronic training gun introduced by the Army in recent years fires 6 mm BB bullets, shooting the skin at close range will still cause redness, swelling, skin breakage and strong stinging, and the risk of injuring vulnerable parts is higher, so it is strictly prohibited to target people.

In response, the Army's Tenth Corps issued a press release tonight to solemnly state that media reports that high-level officials suppressed the case were untrue. The 10th Corps pointed out that Sergeant Zhang of the 302nd Infantry Brigade behaved inappropriately on the 15th and caused bruises to the soldiers. After the Corps Commander learned of this, he proactively assigned cadres to take the soldier to the hospital to examine the injuries that day and launched an administrative investigation. At the same time, he contacted his family to explain the incident and the unit's follow-up actions. On the morning of the 16th, a letter was sent to the Taichung Military Police for investigation in accordance with the law.

The 10th Corps emphasized that in addition to the ongoing administrative investigation, the Corps is also reviewing the responsibilities of cadres at all levels for supervision violations and will never be lenient to strictly enforce military discipline.
