Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic. According to the Kremlin press service, the conversation took place at the initiative of the Serbian side and was held in a warm, friendly manner.

Vucic congratulated Putin on the successful holding of elections to the State Duma; they also discussed various aspects of the further development of bilateral strategic partnership relations, including in the energy sector, oil and gas industry, transport and healthcare.

The Serbian leader, who previously announced that he would resign on September 27, thanked Moscow for its comprehensive support for Belgrade, and also expressed special gratitude for its assistance in extinguishing forest fires.

Vucic also told the head of the Russian Federation about the progress of preparations for the early parliamentary elections in Serbia, scheduled for October 25. “Both sides emphasized the inadmissibility of external interference in the electoral processes,” the materials say.

The Serbian President met earlier this week in New York with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and emphasized that he was counting on a conversation with Putin, which eventually took place.

It is also noted that during the conversation between the presidents, current issues on the international agenda were touched upon, including the Ukrainian conflict.
