Serious injury to Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi during the match between Olympiacos and Volos

Ayoub El Kaabi suffered a serious injury during a confrontation between his club Olympiacos and Volos, at the latter’s stadium, on Saturday, within the matches of the third week of the Greek League.

In the 45th minute, after strong contact with the opposing goalkeeper, Marios Siampanis, El Kaabi was injured in his left leg, before screaming in severe pain.

The injury spread panic among those present in the green rectangle, with players demanding immediate medical intervention, before the Moroccan striker was taken out on a stretcher.

Olympiacos Club did not reveal the details of Ayoub El Kaabi’s injury and the duration of his absence, but it sent a supportive message to him.

Addressing Al-Kaabi, the club said: “Ayoub, in this difficult moment, the entire Olympiacos family stands by you with all our hearts. Your strength, passion, and fighting spirit have inspired us countless times. Now it is our turn to return all that strength to you.”

He added: "Stay strong, we will be with you every step of the way, until we see you return to where you belong."

The Moroccan national team’s account on the “X” platform published a picture of the striker wearing the “Atlas Lions” national team shirt, and commented, saying: “Get well soon, Ayoub El Kaabi.”
