Guatemala’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a message on its official Facebook page yesterday (3rd) to thank Taiwan and affirm my country’s assistance in training Guatemala’s law enforcement personnel to improve their capabilities in cybercrime investigation, information security forensics, and combating cross-border crimes. This is also the first time that the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice has set up a special class on information security and cybercrime prevention for Guangdong. Taiwan-Guangdong cooperation has further extended from hardware support such as police motorcycles to law enforcement technology and talent cultivation.
In the past, the Bureau of Investigation has assisted law enforcement agencies in Central and South America and friendly countries to train talents through international training. The courses cover transnational crime, computer crime, money laundering prevention, drug identification, DNA identification and other fields. This is the first time a special class has been set up based on the needs of the country. In addition to sharing Taiwan's law enforcement experience, it also expands the cooperation network in jointly combating cross-border crimes by establishing personnel exchange and contact channels.
Guarantee's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that through professional courses and practical exercises, the trainees have improved their cyber crime investigation and information security forensics capabilities, and gained an in-depth understanding of Taiwan's experience in technological investigation, digital evidence analysis, and combating various crimes. This training will help strengthen Guarantee's law enforcement capabilities and further expand cooperation between the two sides in the fields of security, technology, and combating cross-border crimes.
This special class was entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Bureau of Investigation. A total of 15 trainees from Guangzhou came to Taiwan for training. In addition to arranging professional content such as cyber crime investigation and information security forensics, the course also included practical exercises. The delegation also visited the Bureau of Investigation’s Information Security Forensics Laboratory, Anti-Drug Exhibition Hall and Outlook Hall to learn about Taiwan’s achievements in using technology to handle cases and promote crime prevention.
Investigation Director Chen Baili said that the collection, analysis and forensics of digital evidence have become an indispensable part of modern law enforcement; this graduation is not the end of exchanges, but the starting point for more cooperation in the future.
Taiwan has continued to deepen cooperation in public security and law enforcement in recent years. Taiwan has previously donated more than 500 Taiwanese brand police motorcycles to the Ministry of the Interior of Taiwan to enhance the mobility of frontline police officers. This time, the Bureau of Investigation will provide professional training, and the cooperation model has also expanded from hardware equipment to technical exchanges and talent cultivation.
