Trump called on Zelensky to meet with Putin in Moscow, Ukraine denied

US President Donald Trump called on Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to come to Moscow for negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Bloomberg, Zelensky rejected the offer. The request from the head of the White House displeased the Ukrainian leader.

Ukraine's response

Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Dmitry Lytvyn denied information that Trump called on Zelensky to meet with Putin in Moscow.

Zelensky previously spoke about arriving in Moscow. In response to a journalist’s question, the Ukrainian leader cursed in Russian and said that he would arrive on a rocket.

In June, Zelensky published an open letter in which he invited Putin to hold a meeting in a third country and end the conflict. The Russian President responded to the letter, noting that the Ukrainian leader’s message contains obvious “elements of rudeness.”

Possibility of a three-way meeting

Putin discussed with his American colleague the possibility of a trilateral meeting of representatives of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the United States, but so far there are no specifics on this issue.

Zelensky admitted that the December G20 summit in Miami could also be an opportunity for a trilateral leader-level summit. He also called the meeting of representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the United States “in the same room” as “a significant step towards de-escalation.”
