Alaa Mubarak, son of the late Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, responded on Saturday to a post by a former Twitter user of the “X” platform, in which he criticized what he described as “Hamas’ political blunders” and its forced disarmament as part of US President Donald Trump’s plan.
The user said in his post: “Hamas’ political blunders cost us many human losses and many losses to build a state. Hamas was the first to attack Egypt, then they praised Egypt. Hamas was the first to attack the Oslo Accords, then they ran in the 2006 elections under the umbrella of Oslo, and even demanded positions and titles resulting from Oslo, and even received salaries from Oslo funds. Hamas was the first to attack Dahlan and then allied with him. Hamas was the first to reject the truce and stop the war from its beginning. In exchange for handing over the Israeli prisoners, they then handed them over for free, and even with gifts of gold coins for their wives,” he claimed.
He added: “Hamas refused to keep the occupation in a buffer zone of 20% of the Gaza Strip, and now the occupation controls 70% and Hamas is demanding that it withdraw 50%. Hamas has rejected everything that was offered to it, and now it has even agreed to hand over weapons in exchange for a politician remaining on a unified list and not an independent list...” he said.
In response to the post, Alaa Mubarak wrote on his official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “Professor Wael, with regard to the principle of handing over weapons, which Israel adopts as a political goal and is confirmed by the Peace Council under American sponsorship as a mandatory and necessary step, it is a major concession and an unprecedented political and military defeat.”
The son of the late Egyptian president added: “Successive Israeli policies seek to empty the Palestinian issue of its political and national content by transforming it from an issue of liberation of a homeland and the right to self-determination into mere humanitarian, economic and security bargains!!.”
Alaa Mubarak concluded his post by saying: “In reality, all the planning that is being done now is nothing but a form of guardianship and stabilizing the occupation.”
At the end of July, US President Donald Trump announced what he described as a historic agreement to ensure the disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza, months after he first announced a US-brokered ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
Hamas said that it would not move forward with the deal unless Israel stopped its raids on Gaza and withdrew its forces to the “yellow line,” as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement concluded in October.
For its part, Israel rejected the recent American plan that aims to move to the next stage of the peace process in Gaza, and demanded that Hamas be completely disarmed first, before any withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “Israel rejects the 15-item document.”
Netanyahu added that the Israeli army "will not withdraw at all until Hamas is truly disarmed, and will continue to confront threats targeting our forces and citizens."
