Criminal complaint against Ahmet Şık from the lawyer of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek's lawyer, Abdullah Adır, made a statement regarding some of the allegations shared by Turkish Workers' Party Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Şık on virtual media.

'IT IS DEFAMATORY'

Minister Gürlek's lawyer, Abdullah Adır, said in his statement on his virtual media account: "The allegations made by a person named Ahmet Şık, who is a journalist and member of parliament, about our Minister of Justice, Mr. Akın Gürlek, and his wife, Mr. Elif Gülşah Gürlek, are completely untrue, unfounded and slanderous.

Our client and his wife reside in the lodging allocated to them by the Ministry of Justice. Contrary to Müfteri Ahmet Şık's false statements, it is never possible for our client to rent another house.

Journalism is based on documents, and being a member of parliament is based on responsibility before the public. If the mufti has a lease agreement and payment document, he must immediately share it with the public. Otherwise, the person in question will be remembered as a blasphemer in the public conscience.

A criminal complaint was filed against Ahmet Şık to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to his vile slanders targeting the personal rights and reputation of our client and his family; Additionally, a lawsuit for non-pecuniary damages was filed due to violation of personal rights. These slanders, which constitute an assassination of reputation against our client, need to be held accountable before the law, and the honor and dignity of the slanderer need to be tried before the conscience of the nation. The process is followed meticulously within the framework of the law. It is announced to the public with respect.”
