Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek files a lawsuit against Ahmet Şık over rent allegations

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek's lawyer, Abdullah Adır, made a statement regarding the rent allegations made by TİP Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Şık about Gürlek and his wife Elif Gülşah Gürlek. Adır stated that the allegations were completely untrue and slanderous and announced that a criminal complaint had been filed against Şık and a lawsuit for non-pecuniary damages had been filed.

“NO OTHER RESIDENCE WAS RENTED”

In the statement made by Minister Gürlek's lawyer, it was stated that Akın Gürlek and his wife resided in the lodging allocated to them by the Ministry of Justice, and the allegations that another residence was rented were flatly rejected.

In the statement, against Şık's claims, "If he has a rental agreement and payment document, he should immediately share it with the public." call was made.

BOTH PENALTY AND COMPENSATION CASE

Stating that the personal rights and reputation of the Gürlek family were targeted, lawyer Adır announced that a criminal complaint was filed against Ahmet Şık to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for slander. In addition, a lawsuit for non-pecuniary damages was also filed on the grounds that personal rights were violated.

In his statement, Adır said about Ahmet Şık, "These slanders, which constitute an assassination of reputation against our client, need to be held accountable before the law, and the honor and dignity of the slanderer need to be tried before the conscience of the nation." he said.

In his statement, lawyer Adır described the allegations as "reputation assassination" and stated that the legal process would be followed meticulously. Thus, the allegations made public by Ahmet Şık became the subject of both a criminal investigation and a civil lawsuit.
