Assault on rabbi in Milan: a 20-year-old arrested, two reported

They were all born in Italy but have North African origins, reside in the province and come to the Lombardy capital to commit small crimes, especially robberies against peers. The three alleged attackers of the rabbi who was insulted and then kicked in Milan have the typical profile of the so-called 'maranza'. A detail that worries the police, because if there were a connection between the many second generation kids who commit crimes in Milan and anti-Semitic hatred, the consequences could be unpredictable. At the moment, Digos has arrested a 20-year-old Tunisian, legal in Italy but with a history of robberies (but without reports of a 'political' nature) because it is believed that of the three he was the one who went from words to deeds by kicking the rabbi. Less serious would be the positions of the other two who, according to Digos' reconstructions, would have insulted him, taking his Kippah and mocking him by wearing it: they are a 19-year-old of Tunisian origin and a 22-year-old of Moroccan origin, also with criminal records. All three had been photographed by the victim and then tracked down. They will also receive a deportation order from Milan.

The arrested twenty-year-old Tunisian will go before the district judge. From what appears to the direct section of the Court of Milan, the boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery, probably related to the fact that the rabbi's headgear was taken away, before he was also kicked and managed to take photos and videos which helped the police to identify the three attackers, who were taken to the police station yesterday. The other two have been reported on the loose and it will be necessary to understand whether the Prosecutor's Office, with the prosecutor on duty Luca Gaglio and the prosecutor Marcello Viola, will also intend to contest hypotheses of injuries or private violence or the aggravating circumstance of racial and religious hatred. As things stand, a hearing has been scheduled for today for the 20-year-old on robbery charges. Judge Alessandra Di Fazio will have to decide, after the hearing, on the validation of the arrest and on any precautionary measure. Then, the direct trial will continue in the next few months.
