It is said to have accurately reproduced characteristics such as the shape and position of the letters, and a senior investigator said, ``It was so sophisticated that you couldn't tell by looking at it.''

According to the prefectural police, this is the first time in the prefecture that an arrest has been made on suspicion of using generated AI to falsify a parking prohibited vehicle mark, and they have issued an opinion calling for ``severe punishment'' for prosecution.

The male office worker reportedly admitted to the charges, saying, ``I didn't want to waste my savings.I wanted to raise the parking fee.''

According to the Oyodo Police Station, the male office worker created a fake mark for a car designated as a parking prohibited exemption between April and May using a computer-generated AI. It is suspected that the poster was posted on the dashboard of a parked car on a public road in Osaka's Kita Ward in June.

Police officers who arrived after receiving complaints from nearby residents found a sign inside the vehicle that read ``Used by people with walking disabilities.''

It had a real number issued by the Osaka Prefectural Public Safety Commission, but when a police officer contacted the person who was registered, he said, ``I don't have that kind of person,'' so it turned out to be a fake.

During the investigation, a police officer instructed the AI ​​to generate the AI ​​according to the male office worker's statement, and it was able to create a mark with an actual number on it.
