Murder of Ronni Manuel Peguero after a nightclub in Parla: the alleged attacker was a neighbor and acquaintance of the family

An altar of flowers placed this Sunday on Macarena Street in Parla already remembers Ronni Manuel Peguero, the 24-year-old young man of Dominican origin murdered just a few hours before, during the early hours of the morning, leaving a local nightclub. Friends of his mother wanted to pay tribute to a boy who arrived in Spain when he was barely seven years old and who made a living working as a marble worker.

His death has caused enormous shock among those who knew him. Not only because of the violence of the attack, but also because of the apparent insignificance of the incident that gave rise to everything and because of an especially painful detail for his family: the alleged murderer lived very close and was known in the environment.

"The day before he greeted his mother and said 'hello, mom,'" said one of Ronni's mother's friends. "And then he takes his son with him." The story provided from the scene insists on the proximity between both parties and the devastation of a mother.

It all happened around 6:35 in the morning this Sunday, at the exit of the Quinta Avenida nightclub, in the area of ​​Macarena and Santo Tomás de Aquino de Parla streets. A call to 112 alerted of a fight with two young people injured. One of them was in critical condition and had gone into cardiorespiratory arrest.

According to the first information from the investigation, the discussion did not take place inside the leisure establishment, but outside. Ronni and a friend would have had a run-in with another young man. According to the testimonies collected, there would have been a push and recrimination. A seemingly minor incident that, a few minutes later, ended up becoming a tragedy.

The alleged aggressor, who lived in a nearby doorway, would have left the place and returned accompanied by another man. That was when the crime occurred.

Ronni received a very deep cut on the neck with what investigators describe as the shell of a broken bottle. The wound severed one of his carotid arteries and caused massive bleeding. His friend was also attacked with bottle fragments and suffered a wound on the left side of his chest, at the level of his lung. «He said "don't push me." That's why, with a bottle cap, cutting his neck... That's inhumane," lamented one of the neighbors.

The first to arrive were agents from the National Police, who found Ronni stopped and immediately began resuscitation maneuvers. Then Summa 112 took over. The paramedics performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation for approximately 40 minutes, but all efforts were useless and they finally had to confirm his death.

His friend, also about 24 years old, was stabilized and transferred as potentially serious to the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda. Doctors had to determine to what extent the injury had affected the lung.

While the paramedics tried to save Ronni's life, family and friends began to arrive at the scene. Summa also mobilized its on-call psychologist to care for the mother and the rest of the family members. Dozens of people witnessed the enormous emergency deployment.

The National Police managed to locate the two suspects shortly after, who remained in the area. The main detainee, 25 years old, is being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of completed homicide. The second arrested person, 40 years old, is accused of serious injuries for the attack suffered by Ronni's friend. Both must be brought to justice.

A young man who arrived in Spain when he was seven years old

This same Sunday, just a few hours after his death, friends of his mother and relatives of Ronni have set up a small altar of flowers on Macarena Street. «His mother is devastated. They have taken away the only thing he had in this life. He came to Spain looking for a future for himself, he brought it with a lot of sacrifice and look what is happening now," lamented a person close to the family.

The murder has also caused unrest among some neighbors, who demand a greater police presence in this leisure area of ​​Parla. Residents in the area assure that fights are frequent and ask for patrols to act as a deterrent. "Let them have just one patrol," demands one of them, convinced that greater surveillance would reduce incidents and the presence of knives.

But between the questions about security and the police investigations there is a circumstance that is incomprehensible for Ronni's entourage to assimilate: victim and alleged aggressor were practically neighbors.

The day before, according to the testimony collected after the crime, the man who is now detained had greeted the young man's mother normally. Hours later, a simple collision would have ended with his son dead in the middle of the street.
