Kaohsiung Police Announces Traffic Control Measures for Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers’ Day Holidays

The Mid-Autumn Festival and Teacher's Day will be a four-day holiday (from September 25 to September 28). The Gao City Police Department today announced traffic control on many road sections and strengthened traffic management at important interchanges and easily congested scenic spots, including Cijin, Shoushan Zoo, Qishan Old Street, Guoling Park, Pier 2 and other important scenic spots. Traffic control measures will be flexibly implemented at surrounding intersections.

1. Cijin Scenic Area will activate one-way vehicle control at Cijin 1st Road/Dunhe Street intersection and Cijin 1st Road/Guangze Street intersection in a timely manner depending on the traffic volume and parking lot conditions of the main roads in Cijin area to guide the diversion of vehicles.

2. Shoushan Zoo will implement one-way traffic control measures on the Wanshou Road section based on the parking rate of the park parking lot and the traffic flow conditions of the Wanshou Road section (vehicles will all go up the mountain from the Gushan 2nd Road/Xinglong Road intersection, and vehicles will be controlled from the Gushan 1st Road/Wanshou Road intersection). The 2nd intersection will be flexible to control cars going up the mountain when traffic congestion occurs on the roads surrounding the park.

3. Qishan Old Street and Meinong Scenic Spot will be based on the volume of traffic entering and leaving the area. When the sudden increase in traffic affects the smooth flow of traffic, the police will initiate traffic interception control measures. In the Qishan area, vehicles will be directed to divert to Provincial Highway 29 at the Yanping 1st Road/Qijia Road intersection, Zhongzheng Road/Huazhong Street intersection, and Qinan 1st Road/Zhongzhong Road intersection. (Alternative Road) Go to the Lingkou Interchange and take National Highway No. 10. In the Meinong area, flexible control at the Zhongxing Road/Zhongxiao Intersection directs vehicles to take the Guangming Road alternative road to the Qishan End Interchange of National Highway No. 10. There are also alternative road guidance signs along the way. Please follow the police traffic instructions and make more use of alternative routes.

4. Kaohsiung Putting Nature Park will control vehicle entry in a timely manner depending on the traffic flow and parking lot conditions on the main roads around the park. People can park their vehicles in the nearby parking lot of Ching Ching Lake Park, and then walk from Renzhi Pavilion and Maze Garden parking lot to Putting Park boardwalk, pass through Songyi intersection to Putting Park lakeside entrance, or take the Putting Park shuttle bus in front of the gate of Ching Ching Lake.

5. When traffic volume reaches saturation in the Pier 2 Special Zone along the Aihe River, vehicles will be blocked and restricted from entering the Pier 2 Special Zone at the intersections of Qixian/Park, Park/Zhenai, Gushan/Linhaixin. In addition, flexible control will direct vehicles at the Qixian/Bixin, Qixian/Penglai, Penglai/Linhaixin, Wufu/Qixian intersections to divert to peripheral roads such as Qixian 3rd Road, Gushan 1st Road, and the main highway. Please follow the guidance signs and the police’s instructions.

6. Kaohsiung Parent-Child Amusement Park implements control over the number of parking spaces in the park. When the park parking lot is full, on-site personnel will guide vehicles entering the park to park in the alternative parking lot of Dreamland and then transfer to the light rail to the park.

Gao City Police urges passers-by to avoid peak traffic hours such as 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., or to take alternative roads and use public transportation (such as buses, MRTs, light rails, etc.) to travel to and from the popular scenic spots during the holidays to avoid traffic congestion and save valuable driving time.
