From Minister Güler to District Governor Candidates: "The Goal of a Terror-Free Türkiye Has a Strategic Nature"

According to the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, Minister Güler met with district governor candidates at the 111th Term District Governorship Course organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Güler, who was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kübra Güran Yiğitbaşı, stated in his speech here that Türkiye is not a country that watches the developments in its immediate geography today, but that it is an important actor contributing to the maintenance of peace and stability in a wide geography stretching from the Balkans to the Caucasus, from the Middle East to Africa.

'THE AGREEMENT WE SIGNED IN MECCA IS A HISTORICAL STEP'

Güler pointed out that the Joint Defense Agreement signed in Mecca is one of the most current examples of the strategic cooperation developed by Türkiye and said, "This strong will put forward by three friendly countries with critical facilities and capabilities, based on collective deterrence, is a historical step that strengthens our deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood and understanding of mutual trust on a strategic ground. Stating that the "Terror-free Turkey" target under the visionary vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is of an extremely strategic nature for the future of the country, Güler made the following evaluation: "This historical process aims to make permanent the security gains we have achieved and to remove terrorism from the agenda of our country and our nation so that it will never return. In fact, you, as the civil administrators of the future, should know very well that the environment of trust and peace established today in our country, especially in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, is not easily achieved. The successes we have achieved in the fight against terrorism are the result of the unprecedented sacrifices and efforts that our country has made over the years by spending its many opportunities and resources.

I would especially like to emphasize the importance of effective coordination and high solidarity between our Ministry of National Defense, our Ministry of Internal Affairs and our National Intelligence Organization in this struggle. As a matter of fact, our heroic Mehmetçik, our heroic gendarmerie, our heroic police officers and our security guards have fought a great fight against terrorism over the years and paid a great price. Therefore, we should never forget and never let others forget that there are these unique sacrifices behind every day we live in peace and security."

Stating that it is everyone's responsibility to protect the gains achieved by the sacrifices of the martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives for the integrity of the country and the unity and solidarity of the nation, Güler said, "We cannot be proud enough of our Mehmetçik, the representative of sacrifice and heroism. Our duty today is to make these security gains permanent, to further strengthen the unity and solidarity of our nation, and to completely remove terrorism and violence from our country's agenda." made his assessment.

"WE WANT PEACE AND STABILITY TO PREVAIL IN OUR REGION"

Güler stated that another historical threshold has been crossed on the path to a Terror-Free Türkiye with the entry into force of the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, which was accepted by a large majority in the Parliament. Stating that the National Solidarity and Integration Coordination Board, which was established within the scope of the law and includes the ministries, has started its work, Güler stated that the principles regarding the activities to be carried out by the board have been determined.

Güler continued his words as follows: "In this process, which we carry out with a strategic vision based on our deep-rooted state mentality, we take every step with great care and responsibility, without compromising on security, by taking into account the sensitivities of our nation. In line with our goal of a Terror-Free Zone, which constitutes the regional dimension of our Terror-free Turkey vision, we wish for the permanent elimination of terrorist structures beyond our borders and for peace and stability to prevail in our region.

In this context, we closely follow the developments in ending the armed presence of terrorist organizations in Syria and strengthening the state authority, for the security of our country and our region. As the impact of terrorism is completely eliminated both in our country and in our region, a much wider area for trust, stability, development and cooperation will emerge on both sides of our borders. "In addition to making the gains achieved in the field of security permanent, this goal is to consolidate our thousand-year-old brotherhood and move towards greater development and social integration for the future of our country."

Güler stated that civil administrators and district governor candidates who will assume this responsibility in the future have important duties in reflecting the peaceful environment that "Terror-Free Turkey" will provide into the daily lives and public services of citizens, and in mobilizing local development opportunities more strongly. He also stated that district governor candidates, who will serve in regions affected by terrorism for many years, will further strengthen the bond between the state and citizens and deliver public services to the most remote areas, and will make vital contributions to the rooting of the "Terror-free Türkiye" target in the social ground.
