Deputy Governor of the Kursk Region Alexander Chepik was involved in an accident in which a girl died

The Chairman of the Government of the Kursk Region, Deputy Governor of the region Alexander Chepik was involved in a massive road accident. The accident occurred on Thursday, July 9, in the Konyshevsky district, where the official was traveling on a working visit.

As reported by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kursk region, on the fifth kilometer of the Konyshevka-Makaro-Petrovskoye road, a Daewoo Nexia driven by a young man born in 2008 and a Toyota driven by a driver born in 1995 collided. After the collision, the car of the South Korean brand collided with a Chevrolet car driving behind the Toyota.

As the press service of the Kursk region government clarified for TASS, Chepik was in the passenger seat of a Toyota car.

A teenage girl was killed in the accident

As a result of the accident, the driver and two passengers of the Daewoo Nexia, including a minor girl, as well as the driver and female passenger of the Chevrolet, were injured. The driver and passenger of the first car were hospitalized; the rest were treated by doctors on the spot.

It later became known that the teenage girl had died. Her death was confirmed by the regional governor, Alexander Khinshtein.

The head of the region expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and promised to provide support.

Khinshtein revealed details of the accident

The Kursk governor also told details about the accident, citing data from the regional State Traffic Inspectorate. According to him, the deceased girl was traveling in a car driven by her brother. The young man allegedly lost control, as a result of which the car drove into the oncoming lane, where it collided with two other cars.

The brother of the deceased, Khinshtein clarified, is now in the hospital. Two more victims - the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet - turned out to be employees of the regional newspaper. They were released home after receiving assistance.
