Reports of alleged advance warnings to Netanyahu before October 7th

The timing of the meeting in the Gulf is explosive: It follows the publication of media reports that the Emirati president personally warned Netanyahu of an impending Hamas attack in the run-up to October 7, 2023. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Netanyahu did nothing despite Mohammed's warning during a 45-minute phone call. Netanyahu's office has denied the report and announced a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper.

Pressure is increasing on Netanyahu ahead of parliamentary elections

Netanyahu's office also rejected this representation as false. It is “fake news” – the visit was only about strengthening the relations between the two countries and challenges in the region. The Emirates recognized Israel in 2020 as part of a rapprochement agreement and have since increased cooperation in the areas of economics and defense, among other things.

In addition to the Emirates, Egypt is also said to have warned Israel in advance. This is reported by the US magazine “The Atlantic”, citing government representatives in Israel, Egypt and other Arab countries as well as representatives in the USA and Europe. Less than two weeks before October 7th, Egypt's intelligence chief Abbas Kamel traveled to Israel and warned that Hamas was apparently mobilizing for a "large-scale attack," according to the report.

Netanyahu is under pressure because of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Israel. The head of government presented the reports as “part of the Left’s election campaign.” His critics, however, accuse him of not taking personal responsibility for the massacre almost three years ago.
