Botanica: Plants of Anatolia Exhibition Opened Its Doors

Botanica: Plants of Anatolia Exhibition presents plants not only as the subject of scientific research; considers them as living beings that shape the common memory of culture, daily life and art.

The exhibition invites the viewer to think through the relationships between observation, documentation and aesthetic expression, with illustrations of plants distributed in different geographies of Turkey. The careful observation, comparison and scientific research processes behind drawing a plant accurately become visible with the works.

In addition to drawings, the exhibition includes various sources such as herbarium samples, historical documents and rare works. By bringing together the works of those engaged in botanical science and painting from past to present, it also reveals the role of botanical illustrations in the production and accumulation of scientific knowledge.

The exhibition includes 71 works of 40 artists from Turkey who produce in the field of botanical illustration. Works produced with different illustration techniques; It transforms nature into a powerful visual narrative while conveying the distinctive features of plants such as leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds with scientific accuracy.

BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia, hosted by the Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum within the scope of its exhibition program that establishes a dialogue between archeology, art and different disciplines, meets the audience as an important pillar of the aim of reaching a wider audience with the botanical illustration of the Flora Research Association and BİRET.

Within the scope of the exhibition, special event programs such as children's and adult workshops and conference series, and plant discovery trips are planned to be held.
