Pakistani Army Chief of Staff criticizes the United States during a meeting with the Iranian Parliament Speaker

Pakistani Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Monday, as part of Islamabad's ongoing diplomatic efforts to support regional stability and security, according to the official Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

During the meeting, Ghalibaf criticized Washington for what he described as repeated failures to fulfill its obligations under the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding." Ghalibaf said, according to IRIB: "The commitments of both parties under the memorandum are clear. The United States, by failing to fulfill its obligations, has prevented the establishment of stability in the region and provided an additional reason for distrust."

Ghalibaf, who heads the Iranian negotiating team, stated that Tehran remains committed to implementing the terms stipulated in the agreement, and rejected the idea that Iran would yield to pressure. He added: "We are striving to implement the conditions set forth in the memorandum of understanding. It is the United States that must fulfill its obligations under the agreement."

For his part, Munir stated that Pakistan will continue its efforts to help restore stability in the region.
