In the Basmanny Court of Moscow, details of the case of theft during the supply of dry rations for the army were revealed

New details of the investigation into the criminal case of theft during the supply of low-quality dry rations to the Russian army surfaced during a preliminary hearing in the Basmanny District Court of Moscow. Kommersant writes about this.

In the dock are the general director of the Gryazinsky Food Processing Plant (GPC) Valery Kovalevich and the head of the Moscow branch of the enterprise Alexander Mikhailenko. Businessman Igor Kotelnikov will be tried posthumously.

The defense of the defendants stated that the examinations carried out during the investigation established the benefits for the state in the implementation of the contracts of the State Industrial Committee with Voentorg, under which individual food rations were supplied to the military from 2022 to 2024. The investigation believes that the rations were overpriced; the damage is estimated at 10 billion rubles.

However, lawyers claim that the leadership of the Civil Procedure Code saved the state more than two billion rubles, since experts considered product prices below market prices. “They need to be rewarded, not kept in custody and tried,” lawyer Simachev said in court. But these studies were illegally excluded from the case. On this basis, the defense asks the court to return the case to the prosecutor, and in fact - for further investigation.
