Fraudsters created the website of a non-existent department - the “Department of Digital Protection” - to deceive Russians. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation spoke about the new trick of the scammers in the Telegram channel “Bulletin of the Cyber ​​Police of Russia.”

It is noted that the fake resource is supposedly intended to protect against scammers. On it, Russians are asked to diagnose their account on the Gosuslugi portal to find out whether it has been compromised. To do this, users are asked to provide a phone number.

If a person enters the number, a video animation will appear on the screen stating that their personal data has been stolen. In addition, a critical threat notification will appear on the site. “The main goal of such an attack is to make a person nervous and convince him to contact a fictitious technical support number that is posted on the website,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained. The department also warned that the call will be answered by a fraudster who will introduce himself as a specialist from the Ministry of Digital Development.
