Head is found in João Pessoa forest after grave violation

A head was found in a forested area in the Gramame neighborhood, in the South Zone of João Pessoa, this Sunday morning (13). Exams carried out by the Scientific Police Institute of Paraíba (IPC-PB) will analyze whether the limb is the same one that was torn from the body of Jonailton José Venâncio in a cemetery, in the Cruz das Armas neighborhood, on Saturday (12).

According to information from Civil Police chief Thiago Cavalcanti, the corporation was called after Venâncio's mother received information that her son's head was at the scene. Initially, the mother told authorities that the member had similar characteristics to her son.

However, only tests that will be carried out by the IPC-PB will confirm, in fact, whether the member found is from Venâncio. The head was found inside a bag and missing one of its ears.

The man's grave was violated in the São José Cemetery, in the Cruz das Armas neighborhood. At the scene, the body was unearthed, charred and had its head torn off by a group of suspects.

According to the Military Police, Jonailton José Venâncio da Costa, aged 22, was shot dead inside the Taipa Community Kitchen, in the Costa e Silva neighborhood. The crime happened last Thursday (10). He entered the place to hide from a group of suspects, but was shot.

The victim's mother, who preferred not to be identified, had informed TV Cabo Branco that she received information about the status of her son's body through Instagram. In the report, she demanded more security at the site.

"Where is the security at this cemetery? Not just this one but also others, because yesterday we were carrying the coffin, there was a gunshot. I had to ask for support from the police. I asked the cemetery management if there is no guard here. Is the guard going to stay here to die? The family is suffering twice. Only those who are mothers understand my pain. I want justice", she reported.

According to the Military Police, the crime had been committed by members of another faction. Information provided to authorities indicates that the head had been thrown in front of the victim's residence.

In a statement, the João Pessoa Urban Development Secretariat (Sedurb) reported that the cemetery guard was captured by armed suspects. The operation of the site is suspended until the completion of the procedures and images from cameras from the Smart City project, existing at the site, will be used to investigate the facts.
