Valencia CF dismisses Carlos Corberán and fires its entire sports leadership

Carlos Corberán has stopped being coach of Valencia. The club has made the decision to dismiss the coach with the bottom team, only one point and one goal in favor, but it is also undertaking a profound remodeling of the sports area that also involves the dismissal of the football CEO, Ron Gourlay, and all the members of the work team that he formed when he arrived at the club a little over a year ago: Lisandro Isei, Hans Gillhaus, Andrés Zamora and Malek Shafei.

The terrible work in the last summer market and the poor performance of the team has led Peter Lim and his son Kiat, president of Valencia, to make the decision to give the green light to the dismissal of the coach, recently renewed and with a contract until June 2028, but also of the Scot, who had been entrusted with controlling the sports area and who has not fulfilled the task. The plans that Gourlay told the Lim that he had for Valencia have not been fulfilled and the vision that, even publicly, he has given of the team does not correspond to what is seen on the playing fields. Now they have made the decision to "start a new stage", according to the club's statement.

Corberán arrived at Valencia CF in December 2024 with the aim of leading the sporting project in a complex situation, in relegation positions, which he was able to reverse, but the start of last season condemned him to fight again to escape relegation. Little had changed with his arrival and a gap even began to open with the players that has ended up growing. Salvation came on matchday 37, although the tightness of the classification meant that they reached the last game with some chance of reaching the Conference League.

After a summer without sales - not even of the players that Corberán did not have - and with an investment of nine million (Arnau Martínez and the Japanese Sato), the league start has condemned the Valencian coach, disconnected from his squad and with an obvious divorce with the Mestalla stands, who have not stopped asking him to resign.
