Koblenz. Canyon has launched its third generation Grail gravel racing bike. The most important innovation is a carbon frame, which, together with a new fork, allows tires up to 2.25 inches or 57 millimeters wide. In order to create the necessary space, the Grail is only designed for 1-speed drives with a single chainring.
At the same time, Canyon has aerodynamically optimized the Grail. According to the manufacturer, at 35 km/h, which Canyon says is the sweet spot for gravel racers, the new model requires less power to overcome air resistance than the competitors tested in the wind tunnel. A longer wheelbase is intended to increase driving stability, while a stack reduced by 1.5 centimeters enables a sportier seating position.
In the higher-quality CFR and CF SLX variants, the pace cockpit can be adjusted in height and width using a Torx tool. There are also new control drops and a storage compartment in the down tube. Together with Cyclite, Canyon has also developed a matching bikepacking bag collection. Also new is the GR 50 CF carbon wheelset, which is tailored to wide gravel tires.

The Grail is available in three carbon qualities and six model variants with different gears and features. The entry-level version is the CF 7, which costs 2,500 euros and weighs 9.2 kilograms, with mechanical Shimano GRX gears (1x12). The top model is the CFR AXS, which weighs 8 kilograms and has an electronic and wireless SRAM Red XPLR circuit (1x13) including a power meter. The new models are available now.
