CHP Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Çelik Announced His Reasons for Resignation

In his statement on his social media account, Çelik stated that he accepted the offer from CHP in the 2024 local elections, with the thought that he would have the opportunity to serve Üsküdar and the people of Üsküdar, beyond political affiliation debates.

Emphasizing that the main criterion for him is the extent to which he can serve the people of Üsküdar rather than the office he holds, Çelik said, "However, the management approach I encountered over time clearly showed that this expectation was not met. During my term of office, I witnessed assignments that caused me to have serious hesitations about merit and management processes that I thought were shaped outside of institutional authority and responsibilities. As the Deputy Mayor, the limitation of my authority and work area from time to time, practices that made it difficult for me to fulfill my duty in a healthy way, and the systematic exclusion that I thought I was exposed to, affected me over time. "It has reached an unacceptable state." he said.

Çelik pointed out that the legal process being carried out today has made all these events much more serious for him and said: "During my time in custody, before the Deputy Mayor election, I witnessed with regret that both myself and my wife were pressured by the CHP and the New Party district and provincial organization to resign from the municipal council membership. Instead of being faced with such a demand and pressure despite the conditions I was in and the difficult process my family went through, the people who were responsible for the failures of political foresight and process management were ignored." "It made my disappointment even deeper."
