National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that Korea expand investment in Vietnam

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that Korea encourage this country's businesses to expand investment in Vietnam in the fields of large-scale AI data centers and semiconductors.

During a meeting with Korean National Assembly Chairman Cho Jeong Sik in Seoul today, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always identifies Korea as a top important strategic partner and hopes that the two countries' relations will continue to develop strongly, substantively, effectively and long-term in all fields.

He asked the Korean National Assembly to encourage this country's businesses to expand investment in Vietnam in priority areas such as infrastructure, semiconductors, large-scale AI data centers, energy, and seaports; create conditions for Vietnamese businesses to participate more deeply in Korea's production supply chain, while promoting market opening for the two countries' goods.

National Assembly Chairman Cho Jeong Sik assessed that the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will strengthen cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies. He affirmed that Korea is ready to accompany Vietnam in the next stage of development.

The two sides will strive to bring bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2026 and towards 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable direction.

Leaders of both sides agreed to continue to prioritize non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) capital and preferential ODA for Vietnamese projects; promoting science and technology cooperation to become a driving force for developing relations between the two countries; At the same time, actively pay attention to and improve policies to create conditions for businesses of the two countries to feel secure in making stable, long-term investments in each country.

Vietnam - Korea will expand cooperation in human resource training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, enhancing understanding and connection between the two countries' people. The two sides continue to pay attention and improve policies to protect the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese community in Korea and the Korean community in Vietnam, including about 100,000 Vietnamese - Korean multicultural families.

The leaders emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in monitoring and promoting the implementation of commitments and agreements, contributing to deepening, effective and substantive relations between the two countries.

Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1992. In December 2022, the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership framework. Korea is currently the No. 2 investment partner, No. 2 tourist supply market, No. 2 ODA provider, No. 3 trade partner and No. 3 labor receiving market of Vietnam. Bilateral trade turnover in 2025 reaches 89.5 billion USD.
