Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan was appointed as Deputy Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, 49 years old, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Party agencies, was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, introduced to elect Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province.

On the afternoon of September 7, at the conference announcing the decision on personnel work, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, Deputy Secretary of the Central Organization Committee, handed over the decision of the Mobilization Secretariat, appointing Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Mr. Nhan was also introduced to be elected by the Provincial People's Council as Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, replacing Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan is from Phuoc Hoa commune, Ho Chi Minh City; holds a PhD in Economics and Construction engineer. He once held the positions of Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tien City; Vice Chairman and then Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee.

After An Giang and Kien Giang merged in July 2025, Mr. Nhan was assigned to be the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of An Giang province. In July 2026, he was transferred to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Central Party agencies.

On the same morning, the Prime Minister appointed Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Inspector General of the Government.

Dong Thap later merged with Tien Giang with an area of ​​about 6,000 km2 and a population of more than 4.2 million people. In the 2025-2030 term, the province targets average economic growth of 9% per year, average income per capita of 115-120 million VND and no poor households by 2030.
