Cyclist dies after being hit by car while cycling with her husband in Goiás

The collision happened in the early hours of Saturday (17). According to reports collected by the police and traces at the scene, the victim was identified as Maria José dos Santos de Lima. She was with her husband cycling on the highway, towards Nova Fátima, when she was run over.

The collision occurred when the car, still unidentified, was traveling in the opposite direction. The husband reported to the police that the aforementioned car invaded the lane where the two were cycling and ran over the cyclist.

The cyclist was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA), where she died. The driver fled the scene of the accident and there is no information in which direction of the highway he followed after the accident.

The Civil Police of Goiás reported that the accident is being investigated by the 4th Police Station of Aparecida and that it has requested expert examinations and is awaiting the conclusion of the reports.
