Mehmet Sarıkanat, Chairman of the Board of Circudata, the Digital Product Passport platform, stated that the electric battery industry will switch to a digital product passport in February 2027 and said, "There is a QR on a product. When the customer scans the QR, the customer is obliged to see whatever the customer needs to see, as defined by the European Union (EU), such as maintenance instructions, carbon footprint, water footprint, life cycle analysis information, in a way that does not constitute a trade secret up to a certain amount." he said.
In his statement to the AA correspondent regarding digital transformation processes, Sarıkanat stated that sustainability is one of the most important issues and that issues such as damage to the environment, carbon and water footprint and product life cycle have become more prominent with the EU regulations.
Stating that they have been working in this field for 3 years, Sarıkanat said, "Our difference from other platforms is that we manage the carbon footprint, water footprint and waste management of corporate, lot-based products on one platform." he said.
Sarıkanat said:
"In February 2027, the electric battery industry is switching to a digital product passport. In fact, it includes carbon footprint, recycling, water footprint, all of them. These are actually based on the processing of the same data. Our platform actually provides both convenience and practicality to companies in this regard. We provide services to companies on the use and reporting of this with the support of artificial intelligence agents. Of course, in the future, in fact, until 2032, a digital product passport, Borderline Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), will eventually be created, using the same data, and sustainability data." It comes down to collection, processing and reporting.”

Mehmet Sarıkanat emphasized that companies exporting to the EU from Türkiye or other countries of the world after 2027 may be unable to export if they do not have a digital product passport or compliance with the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism.
Stating that the digital product passport is not just a QR code or a printed code, Sarıkanat explained that this means data is processed and transported through the QR code.
Sarıkanat pointed out that product-related data should be collected for a long time and said, "I think this is one of the most difficult things for companies to adapt to. Companies should start as soon as possible so that they can be ready when the digital product passport requirement comes." he said.
Stating that there is a product-based, lot-based digital product passport, Sarıkanat concluded his words as follows:
