Secretary Blanche claims ban on media outlets, including CNN, as a 'national security issue'

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanch said on the 27th (local time) that President Donald Trump's decision to exclude media outlets critical of him from reporting on the White House and presidential plane "constitutes a national security issue."

Secretary Blanche appeared on ABC's current affairs program 'This Week' on the same day and said about the ban on CNN and others from entering the White House, saying, "If completely false information comes out using the White House as a source, it will affect not only our relationships with partner countries but also our relationships with hostile countries."

He added, “This issue goes beyond the fact that these media outlets refuse to report accurately.”

“At some point, the outright disinformation and inaccurate and biased news being pumped out by certain media outlets actually becomes a national security issue,” Blanche said. “It is not right that the American people have to endure this.”

The Ministry of Justice also claimed in documents submitted to the court in relation to a lawsuit filed by CNN and others to restore reporting rights, "We have determined that the plaintiffs are involved in several reports that threatened national security, and such reports raise concerns about national security."

In relation to Minister Blanche's remarks in the interview that day, CNN, a media outlet subject to restrictions, pointed out that Minister Blanche did not provide any evidence to support the claim regarding national security issues.

Previously, on the 18th, President Trump announced that he would define three media companies, including CNN, MS Now, and Politico, as 'fake news' and ban them from entering the White House.

The court temporarily suspended the access restrictions on the 24th, believing that there was insufficient evidence to support the Ministry of Justice's claims of a threat to national security.

Despite the court decision, the White House excluded CNN from reporting on Air Force One, the presidential plane, on the 26th, continuing the battle over restrictions on coverage.
