The final of Series A1 (first division) of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship, between Corinthians and São Paulo, supports a scenario that has been evident since the first edition, in 2013.
In addition to all decisions involving at least one club from São Paulo, this one is the ninth in which both teams are from the state.
The classic, known by the nickname Majestoso, will have its first game this Saturday (26), at 4:30 pm (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena. TV Brasil shows it live, opening the broadcast at 4:10 pm. The return will be on Saturday (3), at the same time, but in Morumbis. The Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) broadcaster also shows the match.
Greatest champion with seven titles - the last six consecutive - Timão reaches the decision for the tenth year in a row. Brabas have accumulated 11 appearances and only reached the Brasileirão final in 2016, in the first season, when they fell in the second phase. At the time, the team competed as Corinthians/Audax, due to the partnership with the club from Osasco (SP).
The tricolor is now in its second Brasileirão final. In 2024, the Soberanas decided the title against Corinthians, who came out on top, winning both games: 3-1 at Morumbi and 2-0 at Neo Química Arena. The team, which debuted in the elite in 2020, was among the top four four other times (2020, 2022, 2023 and 2025).
Majestic endings
The 2024 final was not the only confrontation between Corinthians and São Paulo in women's football in history. This year's decision will be the fifth involving rivals from three different competitions.
The advantage is that of black and white. In addition to the Brasileirão, they were champions of São Paulo over their rivals in 2019 and 2021.
The year after losing the national title to Brabas, the tricolor got revenge in the Brazilian Super Cup. Unlike the men's edition, the women's edition, at the time, had eight clubs that played in a knockout system until the final. After a goalless draw at Morumbis, the Soberanas won 4-3 on penalties and took the cup in the last decision between the rivals.
Of the players who were on the field in the Brasileirão decision two years ago, seven are on the Corinthians side, with six defending Timão: goalkeeper Nicole, defender Érika, midfielder Duda Sampaio, midfielder Gabi Zanotti and attackers Vic Albuquerque and Jaqueline - winger Tamires was left out of the finals due to an injury to her right ankle. Striker Ariel Godoi, who was at São Paulo and scored in the first game, now plays for Brabas.
From the current tricolor squad, goalkeeper Carlinha, full-back Bia Menezes, midfielder Robinha, midfielders Aline Milene, Camilinha and Duda Serrana and striker Isa entered the field in the 2024 decision. The coach is also the same: Thiago Viana - at Corinthians, Lucas Piccinato left and the team is led by Emily Lima.
Probable teams
This Saturday, Emily will not have Thaís Regina. The defender was sent off in the 1-0 victory over Bahia, last Monday (21), at Neo Química Arena, in the semifinals. As Érika is doubtful, due to discomfort in her left knee, Argentine Agustina Barroso - who spent a good part of the season treating an injury to her left calf and has not yet played this year - could be an option.
Brabas' likely lineup will have Nicole; Érika (Agustina Barroso), Thaís Ferreira and Ddua Mineira; Gi Fernandes, Duda Sampaio, Vic Albuquerque, Gabi Zanotti and Tamires; Jhonson and Belén Aquino.
In São Paulo, Thiago Viana has maximum strength at his disposal and should repeat the line-up from the 1-0 victory over Flamengo, last Saturday (19), at Brinco de Ouro da Princesa, in Campinas (SP), which sealed the classification for the decision. The triumph assured the Soberanas the best overall campaign and the right to play the second leg of the final at home.
