A deputy from the opposition Socialist Party, Vladimir Odnostalko, proposes introducing a moratorium on cutting off citizens from gas, electricity and centralized heating for debts.

Odnostalko also considers it necessary to introduce emergency measures in the field of social protection due to the sharp increase in tariffs.

CHISINAU, September 28 – RIA Novosti. A deputy from the opposition Socialist Party in Moldova, Vladimir Odnostalko, proposes introducing a moratorium on cutting off citizens from gas, electricity and centralized heating for debts against the backdrop of rising tariffs.

In Moldova, a new tariff for natural gas came into force on September 1. Household consumers pay $1.15 per cubic meter including VAT, instead of $0.81. Despite this, the National Energy Regulatory Agency has decided to revise the tariff again; from October 1, consumers will pay $1.47 per cubic meter. At the same time, the heating tariff in Chisinau increased by 62%, to $185 per gigacalorie, and by 53% in the northern regions of the republic, to $190 per gigacalorie.

“Then it will be even more expensive. What needs to be done urgently? The first is to introduce a moratorium on disconnecting from gas, electricity and central heating. Whatever happens, whatever the debts accumulated during this winter period, this should not become a reason for the relevant services to disconnect a person from heat,” Odnostalko wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, the second thing that needs to be done in connection with the sharp increase in tariffs is to introduce emergency measures in the field of social protection. “The most important task of the government is to save people. To save them from cold and hunger,” the deputy emphasized.

On September 22, the Parliament of Moldova introduced a state of emergency in the energy and hydrology sectors for 60 days.
