Vice-president of the Russian PEN Center Andrei Novikov-Lanskoy has died

Vice-president of the Russian PEN Center Andrei Novikov-Lanskoy died at the age of 51 after a long illness.

The Literary Gazette noted that Novikov-Lanskoy was primarily a poet, as well as a prose writer, who was involved in documentary filmmaking, philology and museum work.

MOSCOW, September 16 - RIA Novosti. Vice-president of the Russian PEN Center Andrei Novikov-Lanskoy died at the age of 51 after a long illness, Literaturnaya Gazeta reports.

“Today, after a long illness, Andrei Anatolyevich Novikov-Lanskoy, a poet, prose writer, vice-president of the Russian PEN Center, passed away,” the message says.

The editors noted that Novikov-Lanskoy was “first of all a poet,” and everything else grew from this: prose, documentary films, philology, museum work.

“The Russian PEN Center mourns together with the family, friends and readers of Andrei Anatolyevich. There remain books, films, students, and poems that will now have to be re-read again,” the publication notes.
