The Qatari Foreign Ministry stresses the need to stop the escalation and calls on Iran to investigate the violation of the airspace, and Saudi Arabia condemns the attacks on Iraqi Kurdistan

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday that Doha's efforts are focused at the current stage on stopping the escalation and returning to the dialogue table, stressing the need not to involve Qatar in Iran's internal problems.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Doha sent an open invitation to Iran to review the investigations related to the Iranian planes that were shot down after they violated Qatari airspace.

He explained that the Iranian aircraft that penetrated Qatari airspace came with the aim of attacking the country, noting that the Qatari forces dealt with them according to the rules of engagement.

He added that on March 19, the Qatari authorities found the remains of one of the two pilots who violated Qatari airspace.

On March 19, Qatar announced the downing of two Iranian Sukhoi Su-24 fighters after they violated its airspace, coinciding with Iranian attacks targeting energy facilities in the country. The Qatari Ministry of Defense said at the time that its air force intercepted the two planes, in addition to intercepting Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. Later, Doha reported that search and rescue teams found the remains of one of the pilots, while denying the detention of Iranian pilots.

Saudi Arabia condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the attacks that targeted the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and targeted the office of the region’s Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, usually in violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement, that the Kingdom completely rejects the hostile operations targeting legal and political figures, and anything that would undermine the security of Iraqi state institutions or destabilize their security and stability.

The Ministry reiterated the Kingdom's firm position rejecting all forms of interference in the internal affairs of countries, violating their sovereignty, and violating the principles of good neighborliness and international law.

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, announced on Monday that two Iranian bomb-laden drones targeted his private office in Erbil and the residence of the head of the Parastan Intelligence Agency in the region, in an attack that officials described as a dangerous escalation and a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. Barzani said, in a press statement, that an investigation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Service in Kurdistan concluded that his private office and the residence of the head of the Parastan Agency, a government intelligence agency in Erbil, were attacked at dawn on Monday by two Iranian drones.
