Dacia's New Micro Electric Model Hipster Coming in 2027

Dacia Hipster, the new micro electric vehicle that Dacia will launch in 2027, attracts attention with its price below 15 thousand euros.

Dacia is preparing to expand its product range with the new electric model Dacia Hipster developed for urban transportation. This micro vehicle, which will be positioned below the brand's current entry-level model Spring, will hit the roads in 2027.

The new model aims to attract attention with its starting price below 15 thousand euros. The vehicle, which is planned to be produced at the eGT New Energy Automotive factory in China, where the Renault Group stopped Spring production in July 2026, is being developed in accordance with the L7e category standards.

Cost-effective production strategy

Senior management of Renault and Dacia completely revised the product description to reduce the costs of the project. In order to minimize costs, the engine, battery and chassis components of the old generation Spring are used to the maximum extent.

In addition to the 4-person L7e model of the vehicle, work is also continuing on the 2-person L6e category, which is lighter and can be used without a driver's license or at a young age. The battery capacity, which is the biggest factor that will determine the final price of the vehicle, is expected to be around 15 kWh and a cost-oriented chemistry will be used.

This battery chemistry is likely to be LFP technology. The project aims to maintain the production capacity at the Şiyan factory, in partnership with the entirely Chinese Dongfeng, Nissan and Renault.

Technical details and design features

According to L7e regulations, the weight of the vehicle excluding the battery should not exceed 450 kg. In addition, the vehicle's power must be limited to 20 horsepower and its maximum speed must be 90 km/h.

Dacia Design Director David Durand states that plastic body panels, such as those in the Citroen Ami, remain expensive compared to steel panels. That's why the Chinese engineering team is working on special solutions that will reduce weight while maintaining cost.

The mass production version, whose patent drawings were leaked, remains largely faithful to the design of the concept shown in 2025. The model will have dimensions of 3.0 meters in length, 1.55 meters in width and 1.53 meters in height.

Instead of the two-piece tailgate in the concept, a single-piece rear door that opens sideways was switched. The front side windows are designed in a split structure, while the lower part opens by folding upwards, as in the Citroen Ami.
