The Taoyuan City Government has been promoting the Yangmei Sports Park plan for many years. Although the main sports venues in the first phase have been opened in 2023, the park's outdoor facilities and road projects are still being strengthened. As for the larger second phase, it is still at the stage of retaining the stadium land and evaluating the overall development needs. City Councilor Zheng Shufang asked the council about the progress of the first phase of the Yangmei Sports Park and the inclusion of activity centers and cultural centers in the second phase. Sports Director Xu Yanhui said that it will be taken into consideration as a whole.

Xu Yanhui said that the first and second phases of the park are currently planned in the direction of sports facilities, and the possibility of integrating international events or major sports facilities will be discussed with the Sports Department; as for suggestions such as cultural centers and performance centers, they will also be included in the overall discussion, and the substantial development stage will be entered when funds are available.

Zheng Shufang said that Yangmei Sports Park is a major construction that Yangmei people are looking forward to. It was initially planned to cover an area of about 10.8 hectares. Later, due to factors such as land acquisition, environmental impact assessment and funding, it was developed in two phases. The first phase is about 4.57 hectares. In the early days, it planned to build a national taekwondo training center, a multi-functional sports and performance center and a player dormitory. Facilities, subsequent plans were gradually adjusted, and in the end there were only sports venues with swimming pools, physical fitness, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and taekwondo training spaces. However, there are still some outdoor spaces within the first phase of expropriation that have not yet been developed. The city government plans to add basketball courts, pickleball courts and barrier-free and inclusive sports facilities. What is the current progress?

She said that compared with the concrete construction of the first phase, the progress of the approximately 6.26 hectares of land in the second phase is relatively slow. The city government currently maintains the land in the second phase as stadium land, and there is no plan to deregister it, but whether it will be expropriated, what sports facilities will be installed in the future, and whether it will be included in the activity center and cultural center.
