Belo Horizonte Civil Defense issues heat wave warning

The Civil Defense of Belo Horizonte issued, this Sunday (27th), a strong heat wave alert valid until next Thursday (1st).

According to the agency, the action of a mass of hot air will raise temperatures, especially in the afternoon (see the weather forecast below).

See the Civil Defense recommendations for this period:

Stay hydrated throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty;

Choose light, water-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables and salads;

Avoid heavy meals, fried foods and the consumption of alcoholic beverages and excess caffeine;

Avoid direct exposure to the sun, especially from 10 am to 4 pm;

Wear light, light clothing, a hat or cap, sunglasses and apply sunscreen;

Keep environments ventilated and, if possible, humidify the air with humidifiers or containers of water, even at night;

Avoid intense physical activity and reduce efforts during the hottest times of the day;

Avoid very hot baths to avoid drying out your skin. If necessary, use moisturizer;

Pay special attention to children, the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses and pets. Offer water frequently and never leave them in parked vehicles, even for a few minutes;

If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, severe headache, nausea or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the maximum temperature in Belo Horizonte could reach 37ºC this week. See the weather forecast for the next few days:
