Reaction from DEM Party to the decision to block access to T24

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan made a statement regarding the decision to close the online news site T24 and social media accounts.

In his statement on his account on the social media platform

"The decision to close T24's website and social media accounts is an extremely severe intervention on the society's right to receive information and freedom of the press. In democratic countries, instead of censorship, measures are taken to protect freedom of thought and expression. Democracy cannot be strengthened by silencing the society. There is no such example of democracy in the world. Democracy is strengthened where not only what we want to hear, but also different and critical voices are free. Censorship practices targeting journalists, writers and media organizations must now be stopped."

In the statement made on DEM Party's social media account, it was stated that "The decision to block access to the news site T24 is oppression against freedom of thought and expression. These practices targeting freedom of thought and expression are unacceptable. The requirement of democracy and pluralism is coexistence with differences. The usurpation of the right to receive information must end."
