Inmate is shot inside prisoner transport bus in Contagem

According to the Military Police, teams became aware of the situation after information that an injured prisoner was trying to be admitted to Hospital Evangélico.

To the military, the man who was shot said that he works on a construction site in the Contagem Center and that, while moving from one work site to another, he was accidentally hit by a gunshot coming from the back seat.

In a first search inside the vehicle, no illegal items were found. Soon after, a 28-year-old man known as 'Kamikaze' claimed responsibility and stated that he no longer had the gun because he threw it out the window.

Based on this information, the military went to the location indicated by the detainee, but the weapon was not found.

With the support of a ROCA dog, new searches were carried out on the bus and, this time, portions of marijuana, cocaine, R$16 and a knife were found.

To the police, Kamicase said that he was forced to admit the facts due to an agreement between the prisoners in which "the youngest” must assume any event that happens between them.

An anonymous person stated that the man who committed the shooting was not the real perpetrator and indicated another person. This person denied involvement in the case and had his cell phone seized.

The bus driver reported that part of the prisoners got off at a construction site on Rua Joaquim José, and the other part, on Rua Reginaldo de Souza Lima, in the Center of Contagem.

According to him, around 4 pm, the bus stopped on the second street to collect the rest of the inmates when the shot was heard. The driver said he immediately went to a hospital to provide assistance to the victim.

In a note, the State Secretariat for Security and Justice (Sejusp) informed g1 that all measures were taken by the management of the José Maria Alckmin Penitentiary.

According to the agency, after the shooting, the injured detainee was taken to a public hospital and remains hospitalized under the escort of the Criminal Police.
