The SPD and its poisonous recipes for social security

Anyone who has such coalition partners does not need political opponents. The SPD in the black-red government is now obviously taking the position that it is not responsible for limiting social security contributions and other additional wage costs. May others do something about the fact that employees have less and less left over from their gross wages; and that fewer and fewer industrial companies can produce competitively in Germany.

The SPD prefers to portray itself as the savior of early retirement without deductions and is now promising billions in additional nursing care insurance benefits, even though the acute political challenge there is a huge financial gap. According to the current status, there will be a shortfall of eight billion euros for next year, and the gap will grow to 17 billion euros by 2029. If it continues to wall itself in this position, the nursing care contribution rates will have to rise by at least one percentage point during this time - regardless of whether the government lasts until the regular election year or falls apart before then.

It's almost the same game with early retirement without any deductions. “Total work of art” or not – the SPD is aiming to remove the largest short-term and well-justified savings position from the pension reform, the pioneering innovation of which is the introduction of the capital pension. However, since this requires a new additional contribution, the total pension contribution rate would then increase by up to three percentage points by 2029. A total contribution burden of 50 percent of gross wages would not be far off.

The calculation behind this is that the CDU/CSU will be the first to get into (even greater) political difficulties in this way, before the anger of the employees about “net theft” and job loss is also directed against the SPD. In addition, the SPD has a few poisonous recipes ready to - supposedly - avoid additional burdens on employees who have to pay contributions: reaching into the pockets of those with private insurance, reaching for rental and interest income, reaching for everything that people who do not want to live on the welfare state have saved. Is the bourgeois foundation of the Union still strong enough to resist all this?
