Iran announces reaching an understanding with Oman regarding the security of navigation in the Red Sea

Tehran expects this understanding to be signed and officially registered with the International Maritime Organization in the coming days, according to the Iranian Nournews website.

This announcement was made by the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baghaei, during a press conference on Monday, where he confirmed that serious negotiations had taken place between the two parties, which had achieved tangible progress in this file, while no official comment had been issued by the Omani side so far regarding these statements.

In a related context, Baqaei held the United States responsible for regional tensions, accusing it of launching attacks that he described as terrorist acts that targeted commercial ships in international waters and the region.

He stressed that the naval blockade and economic war imposed by Washington do not only target Tehran, but rather represent a direct attack on the international community, the principles of free trade, and the United Nations Charter, stressing at the same time that Iran has the full legal right to defend itself and take all necessary measures in this context.
