Lai Ruilong announced the future of Kaohsiung education and seven major educational commitments to create meticulous education

On the eve of Teachers' Day, the Democratic Progressive Party's Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Lai Ruilong announced today (27th) seven major educational commitments in the "Future of Kaohsiung Education", proposing seven major directions: "smaller classes, looser teachers, more care, brighter children, better learning, a bigger world, and a closer future" to outline the next stage of Kaohsiung's education blueprint.

Lai Ruilong said that the Chen Chi Mai City Government team has laid an important foundation for Kaohsiung education, from free lunches, smart classrooms, to continuous promotion of bilingual education. The responsibility of the next mayor is to take another step forward on the existing basis and create a more detailed education.

Lai Ruilong pointed out that some time ago, major teacher groups have been solicited and signed policy demands, and suggestions from all parties have been comprehensively collected. He promised that in the future, he would use the concept of "Education Partners Meeting" to include teachers, principals, parent groups, and representatives of students, early childhood education, special education, and technical and vocational education. He would personally host roundtable meetings to seek dialogue and build consensus, and specifically propose an "Education Commitment Dashboard." The first phase will be 2030 as the node, and the progress of policy implementation will be disclosed regularly for review by all walks of life.

"Teachers take care of children, and the government should take care of teachers." Lai Ruilong said, "Teachers should be more relaxed" will establish administrative reduction indicators, significantly reduce administrative burdens, promote the gradual professionalization of non-teaching administration, continue to reduce the teaching burden of administrative teachers, and provide dedicated information manpower for one school; "smaller classes" will gradually reduce class sizes and prioritize the review of kindergarten teacher-student ratios.

"Care More" will continue to enrich the psychological, social work, counseling, special education and school security manpower, and significantly improve the food safety, nutrition and quality of lunch ingredients; "Kids Brighter" will promote "one school, one highlight" and develop reading, art, sports, technology, ocean and other courses according to the school and local characteristics; "Study Stronger" will establish age-specific AI literacy and use technology to reduce the teaching burden.

Lai Ruilong emphasized that "The World is Bigger" is based on doubling the budget for bilingual education, and further moves toward international education. Without increasing the burden on teachers, it promotes international learning partners in one school, students study abroad, international training of teachers, and bilingual protection in rural areas; "The Future is Closer" connects high schools, technical and vocational schools, tertiary institutions and industry, strengthens career exploration, industry-university cooperation and internship employment, and creates a "15-minute lifelong learning circle."
