Zhuang Jingcheng criticized Gao Hongan for being incompetent in governing and said he would take over the unfinished construction

Zhuang Jingcheng, candidate for Hsinchu mayor of the Democratic Progressive Party, recently put up his latest campaign sign in the Jucheng shopping district. Since it happens to be right next to Gao Hongan's sign, the main text is "roll up your sleeves, you may not know how to do anything, maybe just take a photo", and named Gao Hongan, "If you can't do it, Zhuang Jingcheng will do it."

Zhuang Jingcheng said that for citizens, what really matters is not what the mayor does, but whether the traffic to and from get off work can be smoother, whether the growth and education environment for children is better, and whether the elders can live with more peace of mind.

Zhuang Jingcheng said that the most direct test of whether a mayor is doing well is how much of the problems that existed four years ago have been solved four years later.

Zhuang Jingcheng gave an example. Gao Hongan has been in power for four years, and what the public wants to see is the results. The light rail has been discussed for four years, but the progress is still in the feasibility study; more than 100 million yuan has been invested in renovating the free parking lot, but there have been controversies such as cracks on the track, water accumulation, and fractures caused by falls during test rides; formaldehyde cooking powder is related to the food safety of citizens, but the city government immediately chose to hide the information from the public; the main library has not yet been opened; the completion date of the Guanpu Sky Bridge has been repeatedly delayed.

Zhuang Jingcheng emphasized that Gao Hong'an could not move forward with major construction projects, public projects were frequently controversial, and he was unable to honestly provide the public with even the most basic food safety information. "Incompetence" and "abstention of responsibility" have become Gao Hong'an's key words in power.

Zhuang Jingcheng pointed out that what the mayor really has to do is not to roll up his sleeves and pose for photos, but to take over the problem and shoulder the responsibility. Four years is enough time to test Gao Hongan's character and governance ability. If Gao Hongan cannot do it, let Zhuang Jingcheng do it; if Gao Hongan cannot complete it, let Zhuang Jingcheng do it.

Zhuang Jingcheng said that after taking office in the future, he will use specific progress to accept public inspection. He promised to push for the start of MRT construction within four years, and clear progress will be listed for all major public construction projects, so that a construction project will no longer be delayed from planning to the next four years. He emphasized that the mayor should not just tell citizens what to do, but also when to do it.
