The man detained at Fairford airbase in the UK called the police himself

One of those detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack at Fairford air base in the UK himself called the police to report the incident, the Times newspaper reported.

Five British citizens were detained on September 27 near the base on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities and crimes related to explosives. The next day they were released on bail.

“A suspected bombing attempt at a British Air Force base was foiled after one of the suspects called the police himself,” the newspaper writes.

As noted in the publication, he called the police on the morning of September 27. Law enforcement agencies are investigating his motives, determining whether the call was a check of the security system at the facility or an attempt to signal the authorities about an impending crime.
