Brazil elections 2026: 918,876 voters residing abroad called to vote

There are 918,876 Brazilians living abroad called to vote in the 2026 elections, more than four times those registered in 2010. The figure from the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), reported by Agência Brasil, represents just over 0.5% of the 158.7 million registered voters in Brazil and an increase of 358% compared to the approximately 210 thousand sixteen years ago.

Voters abroad will only be able to vote for president and vice president. Voting will be organized in 186 cities, mainly at Brazilian consulates and embassies.

The United States is the country with the largest number of voters, 265,400, followed by Portugal (134,700), Japan (88,300), Canada (46,400) and Germany (41,500).

Women represent 57% of the electorate living outside Brazil, compared to 43% of men. In 2022, there were approximately 697 thousand voters abroad. The first round will be held on 4 October, while a possible run-off is scheduled for 25 October.
