Feeding stray animals is prohibited in Erzurum

The Provincial Animal Protection Board Meeting in Erzurum was held under the chairmanship of Governor Aydın Baruş. At the meeting held at the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate, various decisions were taken regarding animals living on the streets.

At the meeting, it was evaluated that regular feeding on the streets may cause animals to gather in certain areas and create breeding and living areas. For this reason, it was decided to ban the feeding of animals on the streets throughout the province. It was decided that the implementation of the ban would be followed by district municipalities.

With the decision, increasing inspections to detect animals living on the streets in neighborhoods and districts was also brought to the agenda. It was requested that these studies be carried out by neighborhood headmen's offices, Police Department and District Gendarmerie Commands, and the animals detected should be reported to the relevant district municipalities.

NURSING HOMES ARE ALSO ON THE AGENDA

At the meeting, decisions regarding animal care homes were also taken. It was decided to stop the activities of the nursing home belonging to the Pasin Plain Union of Municipalities until it is brought into compliance with the legislation.

It was decided that the union's Hınıs, Horasan, Karaçoban, Karayazı, Köprüköy and Tekman municipalities would make a protocol with the nursing home of Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality in this process.

On the other hand, it was decided that the follow-up studies to record the breeding of dogs adopted by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry would be carried out by the district agriculture and forestry directorates.

TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED TO ANIMAL COLLECTION TEAMS

Training of veterinarians and animal collection teams working in district municipalities by Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality was also among the decisions taken at the meeting. It was stated that participant information regarding the training should be reported to the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.

In addition, the district governorships were requested to transfer the reports regarding the animals to the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks on a monthly basis.

Deputy Governor Orhan Ayaz, Provincial Police Chief Mahmut Ay, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Cengiz Yıldız, district governors, officials of metropolitan and district municipalities and board members attended the meeting.
