WHO IS BURHAN ÖZFATURA?

Burhan Özfatura was born on June 8, 1943 in Mustafakemalpaşa district of Bursa. Özfatura, who graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, worked as an account expert at the Ministry of Finance, Izmir Revenue Secretary and a lecturer in his professional life. Özfatura, who entered politics with the Motherland Party, was elected Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in the 1984 local elections and served until 1989. Özfatura, who was re-elected as mayor from the True Path Party in the 1994 local elections, served until 1999. Özfatura, who also wrote columns in various newspapers, became known for his writing as well as his term as mayor.

Burhan Özfatura was taken to the hospital after he became ill at his home in Balçova district of Izmir. Özfatura, who was reported to have suffered sudden cardiac arrest, was treated at Dokuz Eylül University Hospital.

83-year-old Özfatura, who was fighting for his life in the cardiovascular surgery intensive care unit, died in the hospital where he was treated.
