Nantou County Youth Project Short Video Challenge combines tobacco and alcohol control with Internet safety promotion

The Nantou County Government implemented the "Youth Project" during the summer vacation and organized the 2nd "Young and I Refuse Temptation" short video lip-sync challenge. The event combined topics such as drug, tobacco, alcohol, and betel nut prevention, as well as child protection and Internet safety. It also strengthened the promotion of new methods of intimidating children with private photos, encouraged young people to use their creativity and bravely refuse temptation, and attracted enthusiastic participation from many campuses.

Director of Social and Labor Affairs Lam Chi-chung said that with the rapid development of digital media, publicity methods must keep pace with the times. Through the challenge, young people can transform from traditional "passive receivers" to "active communicators" and influence their peers with the language they are familiar with. Mingtan Junior High School formed a team for the first time to participate, and won the silver medal of the junior high school group and two creative awards for its outstanding creations. The Social and Labor Department also takes this opportunity to remind that with the popularity of online communities and dating software, the digital risks faced by children are becoming increasingly complex. Recently, it is common for fraud groups to trick teenagers into providing private images on the pretext of "long-term companionship and building emotional trust", and then threaten them. Some cases have even evolved into physical sexual exploitation or illegal work traps.

Lin Zhizhong emphasized that prevention work should not only be limited to "not talking to strangers", but also to teach children to identify "wrong relationships." If the other party asks for confidentiality, asks for private photos, asks to meet away from home, or exchange benefits, it is a danger warning. If parents find that their children have abnormal routines, are overly dependent on mobile phones, or have mood swings, they should take the initiative to care and avoid scolding them immediately, so that they can intervene in time to provide assistance and jointly create a safe and friendly growth environment.
