It was reported at a science and technology university in Yunlin County that a teacher and a student were "handshaking" (Taiwanese, referring to wrist strength), causing a foreign student to break his arm and fall to the ground screaming on the spot. After being sent to the hospital, he was still hospitalized for observation. However, in the early hours of this morning (22nd), a netizen posted a post on a social platform, accusing the teacher of making a bet with his students that "if you win, you will get 2 extra points" which caused the disaster. In response, the school responded that the teacher reported the incident immediately. After a preliminary investigation, the teacher denied giving extra points for the wrist test and would continue to assist with subsequent discharge and rehabilitation matters.

Netizens posted on the social platform that in class last Wednesday, the teacher took the initiative to ask a foreign student who usually had a fitness habit to compete in wrist strength, and offered "2 points for winning", causing the student to break a bone on the spot and scream and fall to the ground. He was sent to the hospital for emergency surgery to insert bone plates and steel nails. The whole class witnessed the whole process and was greatly frightened. The teacher who caused the incident even asked the students to take turns to take care of them. He also questioned whether the teacher's proposal to give extra points for wrist strength in class was an imbalance of power.

The post sparked heated discussions, and many netizens who claimed to be physical therapists left messages saying, "I really don't recommend playing such a dangerous game as arm wrestling, because it's not the first time I've heard of people breaking their hands due to wrist wrestling."

The school said that as soon as the incident occurred, the teachers conducted emergency treatment on site, notified the nursing room and the school security center, and accompanied the students to seek medical treatment in ambulances. In order to allow students to recuperate with peace of mind, the school and teachers have taken the initiative to bear the medical, surgical and nursing expenses related to the students' hospitalization. The students are currently recovering well and will continue to assist with subsequent discharge and rehabilitation matters.

The school pointed out that after preliminary investigation, it was found that the teacher competed with students during recess time, but denied the fact of "extra points" and asked students to arrange classes to take care of him.
