The villagers of Lunqian Village in Yunlin raised funds on their own to build an activity center, and the county government provided a subsidy of 15 million yuan to complete the construction.

Lunqian Village, Lunbei Township, Yunlin, has not had an activity center for decades. Villagers had to borrow venues from temples for gatherings and activities. After discussion, the villagers decided to support themselves and spent more than a year raising more than 5 million yuan to purchase land. The county government and the government were deeply moved and contributed more than 15 million yuan to help build a new activity center. The villagers happily celebrated the opening of the house. Rural representative and artist Li Ricun specially created a small bee installation at the door to record the spirit of unity and cooperation among the villagers.

There are 14 villages in Lunbei Township. Lunqian Village has one of the largest populations in the township, but it is the only village in the township without an activity center. Li Richeng, former chairman of the Lunqian Community, said that because there is no activity center, for decades, village elders and villagers have to borrow space from the Shuntian Palace in the village to hold meetings, classes or activities. One day when villagers were chatting, someone suggested that they start a village donation and buy land to build the village.

Li Wenhong, the head of Lunqian Village, said that when the news of "donating money to build the activity center" came out, the villagers were very supportive. It took more than a year to get more than 160 people to donate, with amounts ranging from more than 1,000 yuan to hundreds of thousands of yuan. Even villagers in other places responded enthusiastically when they heard about it, and a total of more than 5 million yuan was raised.

Li Wenhong said that the villagers raised money to buy a piece of land and donated it to the township office. In addition, Shuntian Palace also provided a piece of land for free as a community activity center, making a total of two pieces of land to build a community activity center.

Yunlin County Mayor Zhang Lishan and Lunbei Township Mayor Li Hongyi were invited to attend the unveiling of the Lunqian Community Activity Center. Zhang Lishan said that the villagers jointly raised funds to buy land to build the activity center, which was touching. The county government and the government jointly subsidized more than 15 million yuan. Yuan project funding was finally completed. There is currently a lack of internal equipment. The county government will fully support subsequent purchases. In the future, in addition to providing a venue for residents’ gatherings and activities, it will also serve as a care base, senior citizen center, and Evergreen Canteen to expand community service capabilities.
