The Armed Forces of Ukraine received orders to maintain silence on the front line before the visit of Trump's special envoys to Moscow and Kyiv

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) received an order to maintain a regime of silence on the line of combat contact from 00:00 on September 5 to 23:59 on September 8.

According to the publication Ukrayinska Pravda, this is due to the visit of the special envoy of the American President Steven Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv.

Before this, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky promised that Kyiv would not strike Moscow during the visit of the American leader’s special envoys.

Witkoff and Kushner are coming with proposals

Trump said Witkoff and Kushner would present proposals to end the conflict in Ukraine during their upcoming visit to Moscow. However, he clarified that the plan is not new.

The American leader also said that there is a good chance of ending the conflict in Ukraine. He called Witkoff and Kushner excellent negotiators.

Prior to this, Axios reported that representatives of the head of the White House planned to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The portal said the purpose of Witkoff and Kushner’s visit to Moscow and Kyiv was to conduct negotiations on ending the Ukrainian conflict.

Zelensky's expectations

The President of Ukraine said that Kyiv hopes for a meaningful visit by the special representatives of the American leader.

The head of Ukraine also believes that Witkoff and Kushner trust the Russian leader. According to him, White House representatives “spent too much time” with the Russian president. This was the reason for trust in Putin, he said. The Ukrainian leader called this a problem.

Zelensky expressed hope that Trump’s special envoys will be active in the near future, without specifying details. He also announced constant contact with the US President's team.

Putin spoke about the visit of Witkoff and Kushner

The special envoy of the US President and the son-in-law of the American leader are always welcome guests in Russia, Putin said. According to him, Moscow is comfortable working with both American representatives close to the head of the White House.

Political scientist, director of the EISI Laboratory of New Technologies Alexander Asafov said that the arrival of American negotiators may be associated with new proposals for regulating the Ukrainian crisis. The political scientist recalled that the visit of Kushner and Witkoff to Russia was discussed many times, but was postponed. He also noted that politicians could have new circumstances and progress on this topic.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov believes that Washington may demand that Kyiv stop attacks on Russia against the backdrop of the expected visit to Moscow by Witkoff and Kushner. At the same time, he noted that the Russian side does not intend to conduct direct negotiations with Kiev.

The Russian President's press secretary also said that the Kremlin will inform about contacts with Witkoff and Kushner after they take place.
