Family of Australian woman who fell to death at Bali beach seeks help to bring her home

The family of a woman who fell to her death at an Indonesian beach have paid tribute to her while seeking public assistance to help bring her home.

Brianna Cronin, 29, died after falling from a cliff at a popular tourist site at Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida island, east of Bali, on Saturday.

Ms Cronin's family has released a video speaking about "Brianna, our daughter and sister", and calling for help bringing her back to Australia.

"She was bubbly, a little quirky, a friend to everyone, and happiest out in nature," the family said.

"Brianna passed away in Bali, and right now she is so far from home."

They said a fundraiser had been launched to repatriate Ms Cronin's remains so the family could "hold her close and say goodbye".

The fundraiser said Ms Cronin graduated from the University of Queensland in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, and described how she "lit up every room she walked into".

"She practised yoga with grace and joy, climbed mountains, explored rainforests, and travelled the world with wide-open eyes, from the lakes and peaks of Europe to the canals of Venice," the family wrote.

"She was always growing, always dreaming, and always making room for other people."

The family also thanked everyone who had provided support and assistance.

"We are deeply grateful to our families and friends, to Brianna's friends and colleagues, for your love, support and condolences," the family wrote.

"To the consular staff and officials in Bali and Australia, thank you for taking care of her."

They said any money left over from the appeal would go toward fulfilling Ms Cronin's dream of building an environmentally-friendly greenhouse complex, and an organisation she supported.

Kelingking Beach is one of the most popular destinations for Bali tourists, with a lookout at the top of the cliff offering panoramic views of the coast nicknamed "T-Rex Beach".

Construction of a 182-metre elevator down to the beach had been taking place until the works were suspended late last year, amid widespread opposition from tourists and local politicians.

More than 6.9 million international visitors went to Bali last year, according to the Bali Hotels Association, with Australians making up the largest cohort of those visitors at 23 per cent.
